WLS (Stands for World's Largest Store) & WCFL ("The Voice of Labor" - Stand for Chicago Federation of Labor)

Larry Lujack (AM & PM Drive - both stations) - Retired, lives out West in Arizona and Wisconsin. Was bought out of his contract when WLS went talk.

Fred Winston (AM Drive on WLS) - Talent Agent in Chicago and worked morning drive at WPNT-FM in the 90's, now PM Drive at WXXY/WYYX in suburban Chicagoland.

Bob Sirott (PM Drive/WLS) - Host of 'Fox Thing in the Morning' on WFLD 32/Chicago - also heard on radio doing the Travel Channel's weekly syndicated show. Did some work for CBS News in the late 80's on a prime time news magazine with Meredith Vierra.

‘Emperor’ Clark Weber (AM Drive) - does a syndicated feature for American Academy of Dermatology and works at WAIT in the Windy City.

Bernie Allen (Early Afternoons) - worked in Chicago radio for 42 years until retiring in 1990. Currently, does free-lance work. Heads a group known as the ‘Midwest Radio Broadcast Pioneers’.

Dex Card (Afternoons) - owned a four station chain in the Great Lakes, then sold it. Currently retired.

Mort Crowley (AM Drive) - Bounced around the nation in various stations, including NY, St. Louis, Milwaukee. Passed away in 1995.

Jim Dunbar (Early Afternoons) - WLS 1960-63, moved to KGO in San Francisco. He retired in 2001.  He really made his mark at KGO as a talk show host and then as the reigning morning news anchor when KGO went "newstalk."  (KGO, as you might know, has been #1 in every book for some 16 years.)  He also co-hosted a morning talk show on KGO-TV for many years.  He also did a stint as co-anchor of KGO-TV's 5 PM news hour.  He does occasional commentaries for KGO in retirement.  He was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.  

Ed Grennan (Mid-Mornings) - Only holdover from the previous ‘Farm’ days of WLS, lasted only 6 months. Worked at WMAQ-TV for almost 30 years before retiring in 1991.

Bob Hale (Afternoons) - hosted ‘Today in Chicago’ at WMAQ for 13 years. Worked at WJJD at night in the 90's.

Don Phillips (overnights) - Lives in Texas, doing various things.

Ron Riley (Nights) - works in Baltimore and has since the 70’s. Works as weather anchor for Newschannel 8 in Washington, D.C.

Art Roberts (Late Nights - WLS & WCFL) - has worked at various stations around the county. Now in sales at a Nevada station. Passed away from a stroke in 2001.

Dick Orkin (Chickenman) WCFL - runs a very successful commercials studio "The Radio Ranch’.

Gary Gears (WLS & WCFL) - passed away a couple of years ago

Bill Bailey - went back to Louisville and is retired from radio.

Robert E. Lee (Middays) WCFL -

Bob Dearborn (Overnights WCFL) - Hosted the first satelite overnight music show on the RKO radio network in the early 80’s. Was Middays (10 + years) and PD at KIXI/Seattle until late 1999.

Paul Christy (WCFL) - PD at various stops around the county including Houston and Detroit.

Tim Kelly (WCFL) - President of Premiere Radio in LA.

"Dr." Grady Brock (WCFL) - moved to Lafayette, LA; presently ???

Larry O’Brien - worked at WTAE in Pittsburgh in AM Drive with John Gary in the 80's and early 90's. Now does voiceovers in the Pittsburgh area.

Chuck Buell - well traveled, was in Minnapolis in the 80’s, now in Phoenix

Kris Stevens (Middays) WLS - now Kris Eric Stevens doing voiceovers and syndicated programming (Christmas Shows)

John Records Landecker (Evenings 'Boogie Check') WLS - Was in Toronto & Cleveland doing AM Drive in the 80's, back in the Windy City at WJMK/Oldies 104. (Web page: http://www.webcom.com/knott/legends.html)

Brant Miller - Weathercaster at WMAQ-TV in Chicago.

Jeff Davis - Voiceover talent. Also worked in LA for KRTH and KCBS-FM before their change to the ARROW.

Yvonne Daniels (Overnights) - worked for a couple of other Chicago stations before dying of breast cancer in the early 90's.

Tommy Edwards (Middays) - became a PD for CBS in Boston and now Los Angeles. The person behind the ARROW format.

Dick Biondi, WLS & WCFL: now nights at WJMK Oldies 104. Chicago

Joel Sebastian, WLS & WCFL: Joel worked in both NYC and Chicago at a number of radio stations, including WINS (1-4p until their shift to all-news in 1965), WMAQ & WKQX in the Windy City, WNEW-AM, WHN & WNBC (weekends). He passed away on 6/23/85 (thanks to Vince Santarelli for the info posted on the New York Radio Message Board)

Jimmy Stagg, WCFL (and P.D.): Owns and runs a small record store chain in the north Chicago Suburbs. I think his home office is in Skokie. "Record City"

Ron Britain, WCFL: Was at WJMK, Walked off the air and walked down the street to another station, signed on the air less than 15 minutes later, has since left. Worked for a satellite radio service in the early 80's.

Buddy Carr, WCFL/Tommy Lee, WLS: Known these days by his real name Tom Bigby, former PD of Sportsradio 610 WIP in Philly.

Barney Pip, WCFL: Died in 1994

Jim Kerr (Weekends at WLS): NYC AM Drive for WPLJ, WPIX, WYNY & Mix 105 for over 20 years. Currently works AM Drive at Q-104 in NYC and for Sirius Satellite Radio. Commuted from NYC to do weekends on WLS when he first started at WPLJ in 1974.

Lyle Dean (AM Drive news with Lujack at WLS): most recently with WGN in Chicago.

Big Ron O’Brian, WCFL: has worked in many places including WNBC in NYC and KHJ/Boss Angeles, moved the Philadelphia in the late 90's and worked at Alice 104.5, also tracked fill-ins and weekends for Jammin' 105 in NYC. Currently PM Drive at Oldies 98.1/WOGL in the city of Brotherly Love
